Adverse Weather Update

Dear UNCG Community,
We continue to monitor the evolving winter weather forecast for our region.
Based on forecasted campus conditions, the University will operate on Condition 2 of the adverse weather policy, beginning Sunday, January 16 at 8:00 a.m. through Monday, January 17, until further notice.
What You Need To Know
- Fountain View, the main dining hall on campus will maintain normal hours of operation Sunday and Monday.
- University Libraries building will be closed but will provide virtual services on Sunday, January 16.
- Leonard J. Kaplan Center for Wellness will be closed on Sunday but will be open Monday from 12:00 – 8:00 p.m. weather permitting.
- Non-mandatory staff are not to report to campus. Campus buildings and offices will be closed starting Sunday at 8:00 a.m. and will remain closed until further notice.
- UNCG will be closed on Monday, January 17 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Condition 2: Suspended Operations
- Mandatory Staff report per regular schedule
- Non-mandatory Staff do not report to campus. All buildings will be locked.
- Non-mandatory Staff should use annual leave/compensatory time/bonus leave or leave without pay
- Non-mandatory Staff may have 90 days to make up time missed with supervisory approval.
- When a non-exempt mandatory employee is required to report to or remain at the worksite during Condition 2 or 3 they shall receive hour-for-hour compensatory time.
Employees should be prepared for adverse impacts, including loss of power, and remain in touch with their supervisors as needed. More information to help you prepare for the winter weather is available here.
We will make operational decisions for Tuesday, January 18, as quickly and efficiently as possible, with the campus community’s safety in mind. Weather conditions will be re-evaluated on Monday regarding Tuesday’s operations, and a campus update will be sent by Monday, January 17 at 6 p.m.
