Hurricane Ian Update #2
Posted 9/29/2022 at 8:40 PM
We continue to monitor Hurricane Ian and its forecasted impact on our region.
Based on the forecasted wind, rain, and threat of flooding and power outages, all Friday classes (including online classes) will be canceled, and the University will operate on Condition 1: Reduced Operations of the adverse weather policy, beginning Friday, September 30 at 6:00 a.m. through Saturday, October 1 at 5:00 p.m.
Under Condition 1: Reduced Operations
- Mandatory staff report per regular schedule.
- Non-mandatory staff should report to their worksite if able. Staff who are unable to report may telework with supervisory approval. Non-mandatory staff currently teleworking should maintain their normal work schedule.
- If teleworking is not feasible, compensatory time/annual leave/bonus leave or leave without pay should be used. With supervisory approval, staff may have 90 days to make up missed time.
- Details on time management and leave policies are available here.
- Planned events are permitted to continue under Condition 1; decisions are left to the discretion of the Director, Dean, or Vice Chancellor in charge of the event. Consideration should be given to the nature of the event, the audience, travel required of staff and audience, and safety concerns.
- Jackson Library and other university operations may be operating virtually or with reduced schedules. Refer to Spartan Alert for guidance.
Should conditions dictate a change in operational status, UNCG will notify all students, faculty, and staff.
As with any adverse weather event, please make decisions about travel based on your personal circumstances and safety. Make sure you continue to monitor your email and Spartan Alerts should conditions change.
