UNCG is closely monitoring Tropical Storm Ian and the forecasted impacts on the Triad. Gov. Roy Cooper has declared a State of Emergency for North Carolina to help prepare for any damage the storm might cause statewide.

The effects of Ian in the Greensboro area are expected to include heavy rain that could result in localized poor drainage or flash flooding and wind gusts in excess of 35 mph. These impacts are expected starting tomorrow (Friday) through Sunday.

UNCG will maintain normal operations/schedule.

Please exercise caution traveling in and around the Piedmont Triad during this period. For more safety tips on weather events, visit the NWS website or the UNCG Office of Emergency Management website.

UNCG will share additional information as needed through the university’s email, social media, and, in the event of any change in university operations, the Spartan Alert Notification System.
